Client professions

Being a specialist PI broker requires a lot more than just having an expert understanding of PI insurance.

It also requires an expert understanding of the particular policy needs of different professions.

Brunel not only has considerable experience working for “traditional” professions but also for emerging sectors, so that we are well placed to provide your clients with the expertise they require.

Accountants

Professional indemnity is a compulsory requirement for accountants who are members of ICAEW and ACCA and other professional accounting associations.

These associations have their own requirements for their members and Brunel Wholesale has the experience and necessary know-how to ensure these requirements are met.

Tax mitigation, corporate finance, financial advice, audit work for quoted companies, mergers and acquisitions are all considered high risk. Brunel Wholesale can help in working with you and your client to prepare and present the risk to the professional indemnity market.

Architects

We arrange PI insurance for over one in five of RIBA Architects and we are the recommended broking partner of the Institute of Clerk of Works.

We have experience in working closely with firms to create a bespoke offering within an ever changing industry, and hold a solid track record in providing architectural clients with:

– Free collateral warranty service

– Competitive premiums

– Contractual reviews

– Risk management advice

– Our in-house claim and broking team

Engineers

The engineering profession has a number of specialisms, including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering. The Brunel approach is to work closely with the client and insurers to see that policies are specifically suited and tailored for the client’s needs.

Financial Advisors

The FCA stipulates that IFA’s must carry PI insurance. However, IFA’s are classed by many professional indemnity insurers as high risk, due to repeat experience of volume claims and large claims in recent years.

Consequently, a number of insurers have pulled out of the market or have greatly reduced coverage.

The proposal forms are lengthy and can be time-consuming to complete with individual insurers often requiring their own specific proposal forms to be presented.

Brunel will provide the necessary guidance and assistance in presenting your IFA clients to insurers in a favourable light. We have the experience and know-how to review policy cover and (with our in-house claims team) consider complex claims issues.

Insurance Brokers

Brunel is a specialist PI insurance broker, with a highly experienced claims team, and a network of relationships with PI solicitors and other risk managers.

We provide the following benefits for our insurance broker clients:

Exclusive quotations – offering access to prices and cover unavailable to other brokers

Highly competitive rates – typically securing savings for our clients

Independence – unlike many of our competitors, we are not tied to any particular insurer

Established – we insure over 400 brokers and insurance intermediaries in the UK

Individual service – you will have a dedicated Senior Account broker or Director to work with

Market review – we work with 50+ insurers to source better cover at better premiums

We are one of the UK’s leading PI brokers for insurance brokers’ own PII.

IT Professionals

Despite professional indemnity not being a compulsory purchase for IT professionals, this sector is arguably one of the most frequent buyers of PII in the UK. The purchase is often driven by contractual obligations and the huge exposures that IT professionals face when insurable incidents occur.

The IT profession is varied and difficult to categorise. Brunel is well placed to obtain quotations for the full range of firms in the industry – from start-up software providers to blue-chip technology companies.

Coverage can vary and certain activities can be excluded. This can trip up the inexperienced. Therefore we provide the advice and technical expertise to see that the policy does what it says on the tin.

Solicitors

Professional indemnity insurance is compulsory for Solicitors in the UK and minimum terms are set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and only provided by participating insurers.

Brunel is listed as one of the main placing brokers for Solicitors PII.

Reduce identity fraud – exclusive offer!

We have teamed up with app developers Thirdfort and underwriters Imperio to offer solicitors an exclusive deal that will save money while reducing the risk of failed identity checks. Thirdfort have created an app to help solicitors combat identity fraud and Imperio are so impressed with the results that they are offering discounted premiums exclusively to Brunel clients who use the app. Please get in touch to find out more!

Surveyors

First impressions are so important in the professional indemnity insurance market, particularly for Surveyors and Land Surveyors. If a poor presentation is handed to an underwriter, it can mean the risk is either instantly declined, or a rate is applied which is not commercially viable to trade.

At Brunel we have the experience and take the time, so that when we submit a proposal on your behalf, the insurer will be able to look at your client’s firm on its own merits and quote accordingly.

Other Professions

We place 1000’s of professional indemnity policies for businesses of all shapes and sizes.

From beekeepers to wind farms, a “miscellaneous business” can be wide-ranging and Brunel can assist in tailoring the right policy at the right price, specifically for your client’s business
